At DAGGRY, responsibility is not a separate project. It is part of the choices we make when developing our products.

We work with fewer, carefully considered materials and with production close to our market. Our textiles are made in Portugal from yarn spun in Spain. This allows us to collaborate with European manufacturers with strong craft traditions and extensive textile expertise.

The bed linen is woven from 81% organic cotton and 19% recycled cotton and certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100. The certification means that the textile has been tested for a wide range of harmful substances.

Recycled fibres are part of our work to make better use of existing resources. At the same time, we know that responsibility cannot be reduced to a single material or certification. Durability, function, production and transport also matter. This is why we develop products with a timeless expression and a quality designed to be used for a long time. We want to be specific about what we know and cautious about what we cannot yet document.

As DAGGRY grows, we will continue to challenge our approach to material choices, documentation and insight into each product’s journey from fibre to finished textile.

Does recycled cotton feel different?

No – and that is the whole point. Our bedding is woven from 19% recycled cotton and 81% cotton, and you cannot feel the difference by touch.

Recycled cotton has long had a reputation for being coarser and thinner. We treat it as a quality material, not a compromise, which is why we are confident enough to state the percentage on the label.
Is the bed linen as durable as bed linen without recycled yarn?

Yes. The bed linen has been tested in use by us, the production facility and our customers for years, and the feedback is very positive. We can also see for ourselves that the textile retains its softness and lustre over time.

Normal wear and tear should, of course, be expected.
How should I wash the bed linen?

Wash at 60°C with a gentle spin cycle and without fabric softener. Fabric softener coats the fibres and can make cotton less breathable over time.

You can iron the bedding after washing – this helps restore its original softness and lustre.
Why are your products made in Portugal?

Portugal is home to some of Europe’s oldest and most skilled weaving mills, with strong craft traditions and control over every stage from yarn to finished product.

We produce there because the quality requires it – and because the short distance allows us to visit the factory and follow production closely.
